Job summary

Terrestrial Energy in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the mechanical engineering group across multiple programs, ensure compliance with ASME and CSA standards, and drive high-performance teams. You will define standards, oversee design reviews, and coordinate with regulators and project managers to deliver innovative IMSR solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline is required.
  • Professional Engineering license or equivalent registration is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in leadership overseeing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Substantial experience in nuclear or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Experience in matrix organizational structures and multi-project resource management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering function across multiple programs and staff.
  • Establish engineering standards, processes, and QA in line with codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan workforce, recruitment, and retention to build organizational capability.
  • Provide technical oversight to ensure quality and project alignment.
  • Collaborate with project managers to allocate resources and balance workload.
  • Conduct performance reviews and develop staff using competency frameworks.
  • Serve as technical lead in design reviews and regulator engagements.
  • Champion safety culture and adherence to QA protocols.
