Job summary

Terrestrial Energy in Charlotte, NC seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design of mechanical systems for IMSR reactor projects. You will prepare calculations, classifications and design summaries, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure safe, reliable plant performance.

The role requires 8+ years of nuclear mechanical design experience, PE eligibility, and strong communication and leadership skills. Join a fast-growing team in a clean energy mission.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• PE Certification or eligible to obtain PE Certification.
• 8+ years in design of mechanical systems, preferably within the nuclear industry.
• Expert knowledge of ASME Section III Division 1, CSA N285.0 and ASME B31.1.
• Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare calculations, analyses and assessment documents for mechanical design.
• Develop system classification, design requirements and design summary reports.
• Participate in design reviews and coordinate with disciplines.
• Develop 3D CAD models with the plant layout lead.
• Mentor junior team members and coordinate vendor interfaces.
• Report progress, budgets, and schedule status.
