Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Building Mechanical Engineer in California to lead the design of mechanical systems for water and wastewater facilities, including plumbing, HVAC, odor control, and fire protection. You will prepare drawings, perform calculations, and coordinate with project stakeholders across multi-discipline teams.

You will mentor designers and coordinate with architects and engineers, while supporting field staff during construction and ensuring project quality and schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• 10+ years’ experience in producing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs for design-build projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Motivation, strong data analysis skills, technical problem-solving ability, organizational skills, and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design complete plumbing systems including utility and potable water distribution, drainage, and auxiliary systems.
• Design complete HVAC systems including package and central plants.
• Design odor control systems and fire protection systems.
• Prepare calculations for plumbing, air loads, and piping/equipment sizing.
• Coordinate with vendors, edit specifications, and perform field evaluations.
• Develop master plans, field investigations, and as-built drawings.
• Support field staff during construction and respond to RFIs.
