Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Building Mechanical Engineer in California to lead the design of plumbing, HVAC, odor control, and fire protection for water and wastewater facilities. You will prepare drawings, perform sizing and energy analyses, and coordinate with architects, technicians, and engineers.

You will mentor designers, ensure quality and schedule, and contribute to design-build project success across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 10+ years’ experience producing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs for design-build projects.
• Strong data analysis, problem-solving, organizational, and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design complete plumbing systems, including utility and potable water distribution, drainage, and auxiliary systems.
• Design HVAC systems, including package type and central plants.
• Design odor control and fire protection systems.
• Prepare calculations for water flows, sizing, and energy analyses.
• Coordinate with vendors, editors, and other engineers; develop as-built drawings.
• Mentor designers and junior engineers; ensure project quality and schedule.
