Battelle Energy Alliance is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for Idaho National Laboratory in Idaho Falls. You will design, test, and verify complex mechanical, electrical, and software systems, applying MBSE and AI-assisted design review tools to drive rigorous systems engineering across projects.

This multi-level role requires ABET-accredited degree and substantial experience, with DOE clearance readiness and collaboration across engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited program in mechanical engineering or related field with relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline with required experience.
• Advanced degree preferred with additional relevant experience.

Responsabilités

• Apply Systems Engineering principles across the project lifecycle, including requirements development and verification.
• Develop and integrate systems engineering concepts throughout lifecycle, including road mapping and testing.
• Use digital engineering tools for MBSE, requirements management, and design reviews.
• Create and manage System Design Descriptions, F&OR, ConOps, and Code of Record documents.
• Reconcile discrepancies across databases and document control systems; maintain traceability.
• Develop macros, scripts, and tools to automate document generation and requirements tasks.
• Apply AI-assisted workflows to perform completeness checks and automated reviews.
• Draft and maintain technical specifications and safety-basis documentation in line with DOE/ANSI standards.
• Develop system architecture artifacts and communicate design boundaries with 3D models.
• Mentor colleagues in technical writing and systems engineering methodology.
