Job summary

Agile Space Industries seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Seattle, WA or Durango, CO to join multidisciplinary teams designing, prototyping, and producing advanced rocket engines and propulsion systems. The role blends hands-on hardware work with design, analysis, and manufacturing collaboration.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in mechanical design, strong CAD and GD&T skills, and experience presenting at design reviews. Seattle or Durango locations offer growth and cross-functional impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years mechanical design experience.
• Proven experience presenting at customer design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design components and assemblies for chemical rocket systems, including concept creation, hand calculations, CAD assembly design and BOM creation.
• Lead and coordinate design review sessions (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR) with cross-functional teams.
• Perform structural, thermal, and fluid analyses (hand calculations) of components and systems.
• Oversee vendor selection and ensure smooth transition to operations.
• Develop and implement detailed work instructions for assembly, integration, and testing processes.
• Engage in hands-on hardware assembly, test execution, data analysis, and report writing.
• Identify and implement risk mitigation strategies throughout development activities.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration between external customers, internal teams, subcontractors, and cross-functional groups.
