Job summary

System One is seeking a Mechanical Systems Rotating Machinery SME to oversee design and integration of large nuclear fluid pump systems. This remote-offsite role focuses on ensuring compliance with design codes and coordinating with suppliers across the lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in mechanical systems and 5+ years with pumps and rotating machinery, including large vertical pump experience and cradle-to-grave hardware management, with strong communication and technical writing

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 10+ years direct experience with mechanical systems.
• 5+ years direct experience with pumps and rotating machinery.
• Experience with large vertical pump design and manufacture.
• Experience with full hardware lifecycle, from cradle to grave.
• Nuclear handling process systems experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of first of multiple large nuclear fluid pumps through design and manufacture.
• Provide oversight to partners and subcontractors developing mechanical system designs for the Natrium reactor.
• Coordinate the review of analyses, such as thermal, seismic, structural, pipe stress, heat transfer, and other analyses performed by others and integrate the results into plant design delivery.
• Integrate as-designed hardware into overall system design.
• Identify and ensure effective application of correct design codes into the design of plant systems such as ASME, ANS, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA, etc.
• Provide technical direction and guidance to engineers in applicable nuclear and non-nuclear related design standards.
• Analyze and allocate regulatory criteria and standards to complex mechanical and process system design.
• Support planning efforts and maintain schedule adherence for design activities within a system, as well as their integration with an overall plant design delivery schedule.
• Interface with the design team to create and manage drawing packages of system designs, including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and system interface drawings.
• Provide technical direction and oversight of supplier projects, working with the Contract Administrator and Supplier Project Engineer to ensure delivery of data and other deliverables, as well as coordination and performance of technical reviews of deliverables.
• Establish and maintain system requirements and specification documents, such as Engineering Design Specifications for major plant equipment.
• Propose, initiate, and oversee testing programs for plant system qualification, as needed.
• Generate design packages for systems, sub-systems, and equipment designs including coordination of calculations, design reports, mechanical drawings, and engineering design
