Job summary

Woolpert is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in South Florida (Coral Gables) who can lead HVAC and plumbing design from concept to construction documentation, while mentoring staff and ensuring code-compliant, high-quality deliverables. Fully remote option available.

The ideal candidate will have a PE license, 10+ years of experience, and expertise in energy modeling, BMS, and sustainable building systems, with strong communication and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• BA/BS or MA/MS in related field; 10+ years related experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) certification required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading engineering projects.
• Expertise in the design and application of complex air-side and water-side HVAC systems.
• Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and HVAC controls; development of control narratives.
• Experience designing sustainable building systems and familiarity with LEED/green building credentials.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical HVAC and plumbing systems from concept through construction documentation and construction administration.
• Perform heating and cooling load calculations using industry-standard software such as Trane Trace 3D Plus.
• Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure delivery of code-compliant, high-quality engineering deliverables.
• Develop and modify models, plans, details, and drawings of mechanical and plumbing systems according to standards.
• Demonstrate energy modeling knowledge with software like COMcheck and EnergyGauge.
• Support career development and provide training sessions for team members.
