Job summary

America At Work is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead multidisciplinary projects for refinery and industrial clients. You will provide technical leadership, oversee process piping design, and review fixed equipment while coordinating with piping, structural, electrical, civil, and process engineering teams.

The role emphasizes mentorship of junior engineers, interaction with clients and contractors, and participation in field activities, startup support, and procurement input.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in refinery or heavy industrial settings.
• Experience leading engineering deliverables on capital projects.
• PE license preferred; EIT certification.
• Strong client communications and leadership abilities.
• Familiarity with process piping and mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering activities on refinery and industrial projects.
• Design and review process piping systems per ASME B31.1 & B31.3.
• Prepare engineering calculations and code compliance documentation.
• Develop equipment specifications and data sheets.
• Review pressure vessels, tanks, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and rotating equipment.
• Lead mechanical design reviews and QA activities.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline teams.
• Support procurement with bid packages and vendor evaluations.
• Participate in field walkdowns, construction support, and startup activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
