Job summary

F5 is seeking a mechanical design engineer to support design, development, and testing of rack-mounted network equipment. You will contribute to sheet metal and injection-molded part design, and perform thermal and structural analyses to support robust products.

Responsibilities include designing chassis for enterprise racks, performing CAD work, evaluating components, generating test reports, and releasing BOMs and ECNs.

Qualifications

• BSME or MSME from an accredited university.
• Familiarity with mechanical CAD and simulation software.
• Extensive experience in mechanical engineering design.
• Ability to understand and design mechanical assemblies in a timely manner.
• Familiarity with basic shop tools.
• Has good verbal and written communication skills.
• Competence with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to work with and clearly communicate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers and lab technicians.

Responsibilities

• Design sheet metal and injection molded parts for rack mounted equipment.
• Perform thermal and structural analysis and report results.
• Review engineering drawings and release BOMs.
• Create and release Engineering Change Orders and Deviations.
• Support prototype builds and evaluation of changes.
• Conduct design reviews using PowerPoint, Excel, or similar tools.
• Adhere to project schedules and support cross-functional teams.
