Job summary

F5 Networks, Inc. in the United States seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and test rack-mounted network equipment. You will design sheet metal and injection molded parts and perform thermal and structural analyses to validate designs.

You will review drawings, create BOMs, Engineering Change Orders, and support prototype builds while coordinating with an interdisciplinary team. A BSME or MSME is required, with CAD experience (SolidWorks CSWP) and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• BSME or MSME from an accredited university.
• Familiarity with mechanical CAD and simulation software.
• Extensive experience in mechanical engineering design.
• Ability to understand and design mechanical assemblies in a timely manner.
• Familiarity with basic shop tools.
• Willingness to take initiative, self-motivated and grow in responsibility.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Competence with Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team of engineers and lab technicians.

Responsibilities

• Design sheet metal and injection molded parts, and perform thermal and structural analyses to support those designs.
• Extensive design of sheet metal, injection molding, castings, machined parts and similar.
• Mechanical layout of circuit board (PCB/PCA) assemblies.
• Component selection evaluation (fans, heat sinks, connectors, hardware, etc.).
• Simulation and analysis of designs, including thermal and structural evaluations.
• Generate reports for testing, tolerance, and fit analysis studies.
• Hands-on support prototype builds and evaluation of changes.
• Review and check engineering drawings.
• Creation and release of the Bill of Materials.
• Preparation and release of Engineering Change Orders and Deviations
• Conduct design reviews using PowerPoint, Excel, or similar tools.
• Adhere to project schedules.
• Support cross-functional team meetings.
