Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Philadelphia office seeks a Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years of power generation experience to join our team. You will lead mechanical design efforts for natural gas and coal-fired projects and mentor junior engineers while coordinating with clients and external partners.

The role emphasizes piping, P&IDs, AQCS/ELG systems, and lifecycle cost analyses across diverse power facilities, with a culture of collaboration and high standards.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering design experience in Power Generation.
  • Experience with simple cycle, combined cycle plants using natural gas, fuel oil, and diesel and/or coal-fired generation is preferred.
  • P.E. license in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant degree.
  • GT Pro or similar gas power performance modelling software experience is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of project life cycle, feasibility studies, and large power plant engineering and construction.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, project work plans, and schedules with independent judgment.
  • Provide guidance, technical direction, and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Maintain regular communication and coordination with clients and external partners.
  • Lead mechanical engineering efforts for power generation projects (natural gas and coal-fired).
  • Design and support systems related to Air Quality Control and Effluent Limitation Guidelines.
  • Perform piping system design, including sizing, materials, routing, and supports.
