Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Philadelphia office is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 10+ years of experience to join the Power Generation team. The role focuses on design and delivery of power generation facilities, including fossil, hydrogen, solar, and energy storage projects, with emphasis on GT Pro modelling and electrical systems.

You will lead electrical engineering efforts, mentor junior staff, coordinate with clients, and ensure quality across multi-discipline and electrical work streams, while

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering design experience in Power Generation.
  • PE license in Electrical Engineering or a relevant degree.
  • Experience with simple cycle, combined cycle plants using natural gas, fuel oil, and diesel and/or coal-fired generation is preferred.
  • Understanding of project life cycle, feasibility studies, bidding of large power plants, commissioning and operations.
  • Experience with task management and assisting with project management tasks.
  • Familiar with coordinating with clients, attending client meetings, and overseeing quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, project work plans, and schedules.
  • Provide guidance, technical direction, and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and external partners.
  • Lead electrical engineering efforts for natural gas and coal-fired power generation projects.
  • Design and support systems related to Air Quality Control and Effluent Guidelines.
  • Perform piping system design including pipe sizing, material selection, and supports.
  • Develop and review P&IDs to ensure accurate representations of components and operation.
  • Conduct electrical equipment condition assessments and lifecycle cost analyses.
  • Design plumbing systems for sanitary and potable water applications.
  • Engineer pumping and piping systems for fluids and gases including blowers and compressed air.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, jurisdictions, and contractors.
