Job summary

Kiewit Energy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Power district in delivering detailed designs for large utility-scale power plants. The role involves leading design efforts, developing P&IDs, equipment specifications, and procurement packages.

The candidate should have a ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree, 8+ years of relevant experience, and be prepared to travel in the US. PE licensure is preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree required.
• Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering design experience in power generation.
• PE license required or in process.
• Willingness to lead others and projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform high complexity engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selection for EPC projects.
• Develop mechanical piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for power plant systems.
• Prepare sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment (boilers, condensers, towers).
• Prepare mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, and procurement packages.
• Coordinate with drafters, designers, and engineers; mentor junior engineers.
• Lead design projects or portions of projects.
