Job summary

TAI in Charlottesville seeks a Mechanical Subject Matter Expert to lead mechanical design for advanced facility projects, collaborating with clients, engineers, and stakeholders across the project lifecycle from planning to construction support.

The role requires 8+ years of mechanical design, 3+ years in Pharma/Biotech/Life Science, and expertise in HVAC, clean and black utilities, pressure vessels, and fire suppression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• PE license preferred.
• 8+ years mechanical design experience creating construction documents.
• 3+ years experience in Pharma/Biotech/Life Science.
• Subject Matter Expert in HVAC, Clean Utilities, Black Utilities, Pressure Vessels, and Fire Suppression systems.
• Capable of field surveys and documenting building conditions.
• Capable of cooling/heating load calculations, VRP ventilation calculations, COMcheck and energy modeling.

Responsibilities

• Support other engineers or project managers as needed.
• Research industry standards and prepare engineering studies and system analyses.
• Develop engineering specifications.
• Review design work and alert managers to scope changes.
• Coordinate project document completion.
• Direct CAD designers in construction drawings.
• Interpret and apply Building/Fire Codes with officials.
• Coordinate design with other engineering disciplines.
