Job summary

TAI in Charlottesville, VA is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer / Subject Matter Expert to lead the design and delivery of complex electrical projects. This role combines hands-on technical design with project leadership, requiring close collaboration with clients, design professionals, and engineering teams to develop high-quality construction documents and electrical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineer licensure is a plus.
• Eight years of electrical design experience.
• Three years of experience in Pharma/Biotech/Life Science.
• Experience with labs, datacenters, or hospitals preferred.
• Subject Matter Expert in Electrical Power Systems, Building Services, Process Equipment, and SHE items.
• Extensive experience with Electrical Construction Drawing sets (single lines, grounding plans, lightning protection, lighting, power, fire alarm, etc.).
• Experience with generator sizing software.
• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA 70; LEED, ASHRAE, IECC, IGCC energy codes; IES recommendations.
• Experience with SKM, Easypower, ETAP.

Responsibilities

• Support other engineers or project managers as needed.
• Research industry standards, prepare studies, and analyze systems.
• Develop and review engineering specifications and project cost estimates.
• Direct and review work of project design team; monitor scope changes.
• Coordinate all aspects of project document completion.
• Direct engineers and CAD designers for construction drawings.
• Interpret applicable codes and liaise with code officials.
• Coordinate project design with other engineering disciplines.
