Job description

We are a globally recognized Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) firm delivering innovative solutions for some of the world's most complex and technically demanding facilities. Our projects advance industries that improve lives, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, cell and gene therapy, food processing, and consumer products. We combine engineering excellence, technical expertise, and collaborative project delivery to create facilities that drive operational performance, quality, sustainability, and long-term value.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the planning, design, and execution of mechanical systems for advanced manufacturing and process facilities within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and food processing industries.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader responsible for developing and overseeing HVAC, utility, and process-support systems for highly regulated environments. This individual will play a key role throughout all project phases, from feasibility studies and conceptual design through detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, qualification, and operational support.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, clients, equipment vendors, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders to deliver innovative, compliant, and cost-effective solutions.

  • Lead the design and engineering of HVAC, mechanical utility, and building systems for pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, laboratory, and food processing facilities.
  • Develop mechanical system concepts and engineering solutions that align with client operational requirements, regulatory expectations, schedule objectives, and budget constraints.
  • Serve as Mechanical Discipline Lead on projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers and designers.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations, equipment selections, and system analyses.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable industry codes, standards, and client-specific requirements.
  • Lead mechanical engineering activities during feasibility studies, master planning, conceptual design, detailed design, construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Coordinate closely with process, architectural, structural, electrical, controls, commissioning, and construction teams.
  • Develop project scope, budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and deliverable requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises.
  • Review technical submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide engineering support during construction.
  • Conduct field investigations, site assessments, startup activities, and troubleshooting of existing systems.
  • Design and support systems serving GMP manufacturing environments, including cleanrooms, laboratories, production suites, utility plants, and warehouse facilities.
  • Develop HVAC strategies supporting environmental control, pressure cascades, contamination control, and product protection.
  • Design mechanical utility systems including chilled water, heating hot water, steam, condensate, compressed air, vacuum, and process cooling systems.
  • Support commissioning, qualification, and validation activities associated with regulated pharmaceutical facilities.
  • Participate in risk analyses, HAZOP reviews, and regulatory inspections as required.
  • Design HVAC and utility systems supporting food manufacturing, packaging, cold storage, sanitation, and processing operations.
  • Develop mechanical solutions that support food safety, production reliability, employee comfort, and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate utility systems including refrigeration support, compressed air, steam distribution, hot water generation, and process cooling infrastructure.
  • Support hygienic facility design principles and sanitary equipment integration.
