Job summary

TAI seeks a senior mechanical engineer in Charlottesville to lead design efforts for advanced facility projects. You will work with clients, engineers, and stakeholders to shape mechanical systems from planning through construction support.

The role requires extensive experience in HVAC, clean utilities, and GMP-critical systems, plus proficiency in energy modeling and code interpretation. A PE license is preferred, with generous benefits and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• PE license is preferred.
• 8+ years of mechanical design experience creating construction documents.
• 3+ years of experience in Pharma/Biotech/Life Science projects.
• SME in non-Critical, critical, and GMP critical Mechanical Systems such as HVAC, Clean Utilities, Black Utilities, and Fire Suppression systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design efforts for advanced facility projects.
• Evaluate system performance and develop solutions for operational excellence.
• Review project design work and manage scope changes with stakeholders.
• Coordinate document completion and production of construction drawings.
• Provide field surveys and perform load and energy calculations.
• Interpret codes and work with officials on interpretations or exceptions.
• Coordinate design with other engineering disciplines as required.
