Job summary

CRB is seeking a Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer to design and oversee HVAC and mechanical utilities for complex facilities. You will manage a team, coordinate with clients and partners, and drive performance across the full project lifecycle from concept through construction.

Ideal candidates have a PE, ABET-accredited degree, 15 years of experience, and strong proficiency in codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISO). This role requires leadership and strategic thinking.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering (mechanical focus).
• Minimum of 15 years of experience for Senior Lead position.
• Professional Engineer registration in good standing.
• Expert experience with engineering calculations and HVAC/mechanical utility and piping system design.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Advanced experience with mechanical/plumbing/fire/building codes.
• Advanced experience applying industry standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, ISO, NFPA, OSHA).
• Advanced experience leading field surveys and supporting field reporting.

Responsibilities

• Directs and manages workflows and execution of design and engineering staff to meet client expectations and project goals.
• Coordinates with internal and external parties, manages multiple complex tasks, establishes priorities and directs the work of others.
• Works with a Project Manager on proposal development, design task identification, man-hour planning and project scheduling for the discipline scope of work on advanced level projects.
• Identifies and resolves advanced non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.
• Attends external seminars/conferences for professional development.
• Develops advanced internal mechanical design and engineering training presentations.
• Develops narratives, reports and construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on advanced and complex projects without oversight.
• Provides lead and advanced support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development and construction progress reports.
• Conducts technical and leadership interviews.
• Conducts quality checking of documents for advanced complex projects (e.g., technical verification of design calculations and documentation) and drives overall project quality.
• Provides mentorship to less experienced Mechanical Engineers and/or Designers.
• Leads advanced project system design programming and master planning with minimal or no support from Senior Engineer.
• Leads a team of mechanical staff in the execution of advanced projects discipline design and engineering.
• Provides oversight and technical leadership to other offices and related functions such as Business Development, Technical Advancement and Vertical Markets.
• Provides industry-level perspective and guidance to frame business strategy in the face of evolving technology or client buying behavior.
