Job summary

SST Direct seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) to join its engineering team and lead development of mechanical system designs, drawings, and specifications, supporting projects from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate will hold a PE license, have 6+ years of experience, and possess strong HVAC, piping, hydronic, and equipment system knowledge, with CAD and 3D modeling proficiency. Relocation to approved locations is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering codes, standards, and industry practices.
• Professional experience designing mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, hydronic, and equipment systems.
• Experience developing mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, and system designs.
• Proficiency with CAD and 3D modeling tools.
• Experience with construction administration, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and site coordination.
• Strong communication, technical problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple project priorities while maintaining quality and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations throughout all phases of project design, from conceptual planning through construction documentation.
• Design and evaluate mechanical systems, including HVAC, piping, hydronic, and mechanical equipment systems.
• Apply applicable mechanical engineering codes, standards, and industry best practices to project designs.
• Review mechanical engineering deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality, scope compliance, and coordination with other disciplines.
• Lead construction administration activities, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and conducting project site visits.
• Utilize CAD and 3D modeling software to develop, review, and coordinate 2D drawings and 3D mechanical models.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, designers, contractors, and other project stakeholders to deliver coordinated and constructible mechanical solutions.
• Assist with project cost tracking, scope management, and technical risk evaluation related to mechanical systems.
• Identify opportunities for technical and process improvements.
• Support ongoing professional development and engineering best practices.
