Job summary

Superior Skilled Trades is seeking a licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) for a direct hire in Phoenix, AZ. The role focuses on developing mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations for HVAC, hydronic, piping and equipment systems, while ensuring code compliance.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with engineers, designers, modelers, and stakeholders to deliver coordinated designs across all project phases, including construction administration and site visits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of 4 years of mechanical engineering experience
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
• Experience with CAD and mechanical modeling software
• Knowledge of mechanical system design (HVAC, hydronic, piping, equipment)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations through all project phases
• Design HVAC distribution, piping layouts, and equipment selections
• Apply mechanical codes and standards to designs
• Perform calculations for airflow, heat loads, pipe sizing and pressure losses
• Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and conduct site visits
• Create coordinated 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD tools
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
• Participate in project meetings and ensure documentation accuracy
• Support design-process improvements and professional development
