Job summary

Superior Skilled Trades is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) in Durham, NC to lead design and development of mechanical systems for complex projects. The role requires an active PE license and at least 6 years of experience.

You will oversee design deliverables, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide technical support through all project phases from concept to construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 6+ years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• NCEES record for licensure maintenance preferred.
• Experience with mechanical design, calculations, specs and construction documents.
• Proficiency with CAD and 3D modeling tools.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations throughout all design phases.
• Design HVAC, piping, hydronic, and mechanical equipment systems per codes and project requirements.
• Review mechanical deliverables for accuracy, quality, and coordination with other disciplines.
• Lead construction administration activities including RFIs, shop drawings, and site visits.
• Utilize CAD and 3D modeling to develop and review coordinated mechanical drawings and models.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to deliver constructible mechanical solutions.
• Assist project management with cost tracking, scope management, and risk assessments.
• Identify opportunities for technical improvements and contribute to process improvements.
