Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Huntsville seeks a senior mechanical engineer to lead conceptual and preliminary design for cruise missile launcher capsules and related subsystems on the SLCM-N program, with an emphasis on reuse of Navy launch systems.

You will provide technical oversight for mechanical integration, plan trade studies, develop TD packages, and ensure compliance with UFC, MIL-STDs, and GD&T standards while coordinating with suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM discipline.
• Minimum of 12 years of relevant expereince.
• U.S. citizen.
• Active Secret clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance and SAP approval in a reasonable period.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual and preliminary mechanical design for launcher capsules in the TMRR phase.
• Provide technical oversight for mechanical aspects of avionics and airframe integration.
• Plan, execute, and document structured trade studies and systems engineering activities.
• Develop and validate mechanical designs and Technical Data Packages (TDPs).
• Collaborate with suppliers to manage risks and maintain configuration control.
