Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a senior Mechanical Engineer to lead conceptual and preliminary design for cruise missile launcher capsules and related subsystems. You will oversee mechanical aspects of avionics integration, drive trade studies, and ensure producibility, affordability, and risk management.

Ideal candidates have 12+ years in aerospace/mechanical design, 3D CAD with Siemens NX, and GD&T expertise, with a current Secret clearance and the ability to obtain Top Secret/SAP clearance as

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in mechanical design/analysis for aerospace or missile systems.
• U.S. citizen with active Secret clearance; ability to obtain Top Secret/SAP clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual and preliminary mechanical design and technology maturation for missile launcher capsules and subsystems.
• Provide technical oversight for mechanical aspects of avionics and airframe integration.
• Plan and document trades studies, architecture development, and systems engineering activities.
• Develop and validate mechanical designs and Technical Data Packages (TDPs) compliant with UFC, MIL-STDs, GD&T and ASME Y14.5.
• Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to maintain configuration control and mitigate risk.
• Lead cross-functional teams and provide mechanical direction within supplier subcontracts and statements of work.
• Contribute as a key technical advisor for advanced mechanical concepts on the SLCM-N program.
• Promote continuous improvement with MBSE, digital engineering, and Agile methods.
