Job summary

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. in Pleasanton, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the global organization. You will join an innovative Mechanical Engineering Team developing complex Life Science instruments, spanning research to product launch.

You should have 5+ years of experience, strong mechanical design skills, and proficiency in SolidWorks or Creo. The role requires collaboration with chemists and biologists and offers meaningful impact at a mid-size, dynamic site.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering; MS preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years professional experience.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Experience with machine shop, injection molding, and electromechanical assembly.
• Proficiency in design of optomechanical components and fluidic design desired.
• Solid modeling in SolidWorks or Creo; familiarity with PLM/ERP.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to develop mechanical solutions across the product development lifecycle (concept, feasibility, development, V&V, launch, sustaining).
• Review and analyze product requirements, articulate mechanical system requirements and functions; define and decompose systems; document verification plans and reports.
• Develop mechanical solutions; design components, create assemblies, procure parts, and author assembly instructions; perform thermal/structural/CFD analyses.
• Assemble and test prototypes; conduct root-cause investigations to improve quality and reliability.
