Job summary

Bio-Rad Laboratories is seeking a Mechanical Systems Technician-Temp to support its global organization. You will be part of the Mechanical Engineering Team developing complex life science instrument systems and troubleshooting to identify root causes for instrument failures.

The role involves hands-on prototyping, testing, and collaboration across mechanical, electrical, and optical disciplines at the Pleasanton R&D center. This is a first-shift position (8:00am–5:00pm, Mon–Fri).

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in engineering preferred or demonstrated expertise in engineering environment.
• Minimum of 10+ years of professional experience required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Expertise in physical prototyping with conventional machining, hand tools, precision measurement equipment, soldering, crimping, and electrical test equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical, electrical, optical, fluidic, and/or system-level troubleshooting leading to root cause and corrective action.

Responsibilities

• Support design, fabrication, assembly, modification, and test of electro-mechanical research instruments and assemblies.
• Build and test R&D prototypes during the engineering development lifecycle.
• Support transfer of development instruments to manufacturing including troubleshooting guides.
• Support test and fixture development for laboratory testing including assembly procedures.
• Support Reliability, Verification and Validation testing.
