Job summary

Bio-Techne is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to lead projects in developing and supporting its analytical instruments. The role reports to the Mechanical Engineering Hardware Manager and collaborates with scientists and engineers.

The position emphasizes rapid prototyping, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on San Jose-based ME Hardware team contributions and cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience.
• Experience designing components, assemblies, fixtures.
• Strong system-level thinking and problem solving.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM; follow ASME standards.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, molding, extrusion, sheet metal).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop analytical instruments and accessories.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class products.
• Iterate prototypes to meet requirements and standards.
• Ensure manufacturability and reliability of designs.
• Create 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and protocols/reports.
• Support transition to manufacturing and equipment processes.
• Engage with San Jose ME Hardware team on projects and reviews.
• Contribute to design reviews and problem-solving efforts.
