Job summary

Bio-Rad Laboratories in Pleasanton, CA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive the development of next-generation Life Science instruments. You will work with engineers, chemists, and molecular biologists to develop integrated optical and fluidic systems from concept through manufacturing.

You will join a multidisciplinary R&D team, report to the Head of Mechanical Engineering, and contribute to design for reliability, manufacturing, and service.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering is required; MS desirable.
• Minimum 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills are essential.
• Proficiency with solid modeling tools and GD&T is expected.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical solutions across the product development lifecycle for Life Science instruments.
• Define and document mechanical requirements, perform system architecture definition, modeling, and verification planning.
• Design components and assemblies, procure parts, and write assembly instructions.
• Assemble and test prototypes with cross-disciplinary teams to validate models.
• Perform root-cause investigations to improve product quality and reliability.
• Generate and release engineering documentation to support development and manufacture.
