Job summary

Bio-Techne is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to lead development and support of its portfolio of analytical instruments in our San Jose facility. The role involves early concept feasibility, new product development, manufacturing support, and cross-functional collaboration with scientists and engineers.

This in-person position requires 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical design and proficiency with SolidWorks/PDM, ASME standards, and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience is required.
• Experience designing mechanical components, assemblies, and fixtures.
• Strong system-level thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and PDM per ASME standards.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop analytical instruments and accessories.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class products.
• Iterate prototypes to meet requirements and regulatory standards.
• Ensure manufacturability, reliability, and cost targets.
• Produce 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and test reports.
• Support transition to manufacturing and equipment/process development.
• Engage with vendors to ensure manufacturability and quality.
