Job summary

Salas O’Brien is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Charlotte, NC to lead HVAC and mechanical system design across healthcare, federal, industrial, municipal, and commercial projects.

The role involves client meetings, design through construction support, and collaboration with multi-discipline teams. 15+ years of design experience and a NC PE license or eligibility are required; LEED is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Active Professional Engineering license in North Carolina or ability to be licensed within 6 months.
• Minimum of 15 years design experience.
• LEED certification/experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to determine HVAC and ventilation requirements.
• Develop HVAC and ventilation system designs based on scope and classifications.
• Provide design and planning of mechanical systems for multiple building types.
• Perform load/energy calculations using Trace 700, HAP, IES or similar software.
• Coordinate with plumbing, structural, electrical, fire protection, and process teams.
• Oversee junior engineers and lead project teams.
• Assist in business development and client interviews.
