Job summary

Salas O’Brien in Charleston, SC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design for healthcare projects from start to finish. You will own HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design, manage cross-disciplinary coordination, and direct project execution.

The role requires a 10+ year background, PE license in SC, and proficiency in Revit, HAP/TRACE, and MS Office. Travel to project sites is expected, with a strong emphasis on client relations and team mentorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering.
• PE license, SC and other states as required.
• 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering for healthcare projects.
• Proficiency with Revit, MS Office and HVAC load analysis programs (HAP/TRACE).

Responsibilities

• Owns complex mechanical projects from start to finish.
• Performs mechanical engineering tasks for assigned projects including HVAC, plumbing and fire protection design.
• Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams and manages internal and client communications.
• Attends pre-bid and pre-construction meetings and oversees construction phase activities.
• Develops scope of services and fees, and mentors junior engineers.
