Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Richmond, VA is seeking a mid-level Mechanical Engineer to join the Building Design Group. You will help design and administer construction for small to medium projects, collaborating with larger design teams.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license (Virginia) or can obtain within 6 months, has 11–15 years of mechanical engineering experience, and is proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
• 11–15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the consulting industry.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Construction Documentation: Develop plans, sections, schedules, details, controls, cost estimates, and specifications for mechanical systems.
• Engineering Design Analysis: Conduct mechanical system selection, energy and life cycle cost analysis, and ensure designs meet energy and sustainable design targets.
• Team Engagement: Coordinate with other disciplines and project stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
• Technical Expertise: Develop control strategies, calculations, system concepts, layouts, and designs.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior engineers and staff members, fostering their professional growth.
