Job summary

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP in Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join the Building Design Group. You will lead design and construction administration for small to medium projects and collaborate with larger teams.

The role requires an ABET-accredited bachelor’s in mechanical or architectural engineering (master’s preferred), 11–15 years of experience, a VA PE or ability to obtain within 6 months, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering from ABET accredited program; Master’s degree preferred.
• 11–15 years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in the consulting industry.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Proficient knowledge of mechanical system designs including DX packaged, hydronic, chilled water plants, heating water plants, and plumbing.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and HVAC design software.
• Familiarity with relevant codes and guidelines.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Construction Documentation: Develop plans, sections, schedules, details, controls, cost estimates, and specifications for mechanical systems.
• Engineering Design Analysis: Conduct system selection, energy and life cycle cost analysis, and ensure designs meet energy targets.
• Team Engagement: Coordinate with other disciplines and stakeholders for seamless project execution.
• Technical Expertise: Develop control strategies, calculations, layouts, and designs.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and staff.
