Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Engineering Lead to support industrial projects such as semiconductor manufacturing, data centers, and other Advanced Manufacturing ventures. You will lead design efforts, perform load calculations, select HVAC equipment, and guide cross-disciplinary teams.

The role emphasizes technical writing, client coordination, and mentoring junior engineers. A PE license in the U.S.

Qualifications

Technical writing experience and proficiency.
Experience in mechanical systems design.
Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks (preferred).

Responsibilities

Knowledge in scope definition, design schedule management, coordination with other disciplines, design document creation, and quality reviews.
Coordination with department heads for resource allocation.
Budget tracking throughout design.
RFP scope definition and resource estimation.
Prepare engineering studies including load calculations, payback analysis, and industry trends.
Technical writing for Basis of Design documents, operation sequences, and narratives for non-technical audiences.
Oversee load calculations, system design, cross-discipline coordination, and sealing of contract documents.
Lead a team of engineers and designers on multiple projects.
Mentor junior engineers and participate in in-house training.
