Job summary

Heapy Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III+ in Indianapolis, IN. This full-time role involves applying standard mechanical design techniques to a range of projects in the Built Environment, collaborating with colleagues, and advancing toward PE licensure.

You will contribute to meaningful design work, develop lasting client relationships, and grow within a trusted, long-standing firm that values innovation and people.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited four-year engineering degree or equivalent with advanced degree in engineering
• Typically 6+ years of related mechanical engineering experience in the built environment
• Ability to apply standard design engineering techniques and modify designs as needed
• Experience with computer software packages and automated engineering/design equipment
• FE Certification and working toward PE Registration (PE within 2 years)

Responsibilities

• Input and refine design details in models and tools
• Prepare design specifications and cost estimates
• Review shop drawings, bids, and submittals for compliance
• Produce designs, technical reports, and specifications
• Collaborate on field observations and data collection for designs and reports
• Apply mechanical design techniques across projects commensurate with level
• Utilize AI and automation in design and project work
• Meet deadlines and ensure deliverables meet requirements
• Foster client relationships and deliver exceptional service
