Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical analysis, detailed design, and subsystem integration for HVAC equipment and modular data centers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive DFMA improvements to ensure a smooth transition from design to production.

The role requires strong CAD skills, experience with sheet-metal assemblies, and a background in HVAC product development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• PE designation or equivalent.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in a product-based manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years of HVAC and mechanical building design experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering theory, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and airflow fundamentals.
• Experience designing sheet-metal assemblies and mechanical HVAC components.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and creation of detailed drawings and specifications.
• Experience developing and maintaining mechanical BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical analysis and design of HVAC units, modular data centers, components, and assemblies.
• Develop innovative mechanical solutions based on customer requirements and constraints.
• Improve manufacturability, serviceability, and product quality.
• Lead assigned products or subsystems through the lifecycle.
• Create and maintain 3D models and drawings using CAD tools.
• Develop and maintain BOMs and technical specifications.
• Support prototype builds and collaboration with manufacturing.
