Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Modeling Engineer for the Data Center Thermal Technology Solutions group. You will develop and apply numerical models to simulate end-to-end data center cooling performance and provide design guidance from model results.

The role requires a strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics, plus experience with HVAC systems and refrigerants. On-site work in Glendale, WI is required with relocation options available.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of industry experience with thermal products or systems.
• Strong theoretical foundation in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• Experience with HVAC system design, refrigerant cycles, and component selection.
• Proficiency with numerical simulation tools for building and thermal applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop numerical simulations of thermal components used in data center applications.
• Integrate subsystems into complete thermal solutions across cooling loops, controls and heat-rejection equipment.
• Use models to predict chip-to-ambient performance of data center cooling systems.
• Provide technical guidance to customers based on model results.
• Present findings and recommendations across departments and write technical papers.
