Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical analysis, detailed design, and subsystem integration for HVAC equipment across multiple platforms.

You’ll collaborate with electrical, controls, test labs, and sourcing teams to deliver safe, compliant, and cost‑effective products at our Largo, FL site. You will guide DFMEA, enclosure integrity, and A2L adaptations while mentoring drafters, supporting prototype builds, and ensuring manufacturability and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in product development.
• 5+ years of 3D CAD software experience.
• Experience designing sheet-metal assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical analysis and detailed design for AHUs, FCUs, BCUs and related subsystems.
• Develop innovative design solutions for HVAC equipment meeting customer requirements.
• Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, and installation details.
• Coordinate with compliance and test labs to validate mechanical requirements.
• Support manufacturing with BOMs, routings, and DFM/DFA improvements.
