Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Largo, FL to lead mechanical analysis, design, and integration for HVAC equipment across AHU/FCU/BCU platforms. You will collaborate with electrical, controls, test labs, compliance, sourcing, and product management to deliver safe, cost‑effective, and serviceable products.

The role emphasizes DFMEA, A2L refrigerant adaptations, and cross‑functional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 5+ years in mechanical product development.
• 5+ years of 3D CAD experience.
• Experience designing sheet-metal assemblies.
• HVAC industry experience preferred.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, DFM/DFA, and cost modeling.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical analysis and detailed design for AHUs/FCUs/BCUs.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for compliant, cost‑effective HVAC products.
• Lead testing, prototyping, and validation in lab environments.
• Develop and maintain mechanical documentation and standards.
