Job summary

Lucid Motors is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the High Voltage Design team, on-site at Lucid HQ in Newark, CA. You will lead the mechanical architecture, packaging, integration, and validation of core power electronics systems including onboard chargers and HV junction boxes.

You will work through concept to production with cross-functional teams, mentoring juniors and pushing design improvements. Ideal candidates have strong 3D CAD (CATIA), GD&T, and DFMEA experience, plus a background in

Qualifications

• Strong 3D CAD skills with CATIA or similar software.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and creepage/clearance principles.
• Proven DFMEA/DFM/ DFA experience across plastics, sheet metal, die castings, and PCBA-integrated assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Own The Design: Lead the mechanical architecture, packaging, integration, and validation of core power electronics systems, including onboard chargers and HV junction boxes.
• Managing every aspect of design engineering from concept to production and beyond.
• Develop system-level solutions that balance electrical performance, mechanical robustness, manufacturability, cost, serviceability, and customer experience.
• Lead supplier technical reviews, DFMEA reviews, tooling reviews, validation alignment, and production launch activities.
• Prototype & Test: Design, build, and test your prototypes.
• Define and support executing environmental, vibration, thermal shock, temperature cycling, ingress protection, durability, and mechanical qualification testing.
• Drive design changes based on test results and real-world feedback.
• Innovate & Optimize: Continuously optimize designs for cost and performance without sacrificing safety or reliability.
• Collaborate: Work closely with electrical engineers, quality assurance, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Mentor: Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, lead internal design reviews, and drive engineering decisions through analysis, testing, and first-principles reasoning.
