Job summary

nLIGHT in Camas, Washington is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to cross-functional teams developing fiber laser designs for industrial and directed energy applications. You will work on mechanical design of laser systems and define user interfaces, layouts, and product requirements while focusing on cost objectives.

Responsibilities include planning verification tests, overseeing procurement and prototype assembly, and designing robust tooling for reliable high-volume

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical engineering or similar with experience in mechanical design.
• Experience with machining, sheet metal, injection molding, welding.
• Proficient in SolidWorks and engineering drawing with GD&T knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to cross-functional teams developing fiber laser designs for industrial/direct energy uses.
• Mechanical design of laser systems and products.
• Help define system layouts, user interfaces, requirements, and cost goals.
• Plan and execute design verification tests including environmental and life testing.
• Oversee procurement and assembly of engineering prototypes.
• Design robust tooling for high-volume manufacturing.
