Job summary

nLIGHT, headquartered in Camas, Washington, seeks a Senior Equipment Engineer to own the lifecycle of high-volume laser production equipment. You will drive reliability, qualification, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and continuous improvement while partnering with Manufacturing, Process, Quality, Facilities, EHS, automation, customers, and suppliers across multiple shifts.

You will lead root-cause investigations, ensure safety and quality compliance, mentor junior engineers, and support

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and five years of relevant experience in high-volume production.
• Experience with optical metrology, electrical test stations, and GR&R understanding.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings, and to interpret P&IDs.

Responsibilities

• Manage the equipment lifecycle for owned and procured equipment, including spare-parts strategies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve equipment management systems.
• Lead root-cause investigations using 8D, DMAIC, or FMEA techniques.
• Develop preventive and predictive maintenance plans to improve reliability.
• Oversee installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, validation, and handoff to production.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians and manage vendor relationships.
