Job summary

nLIGHT, Inc. in Camas, WA, is seeking a hands-on Optical Engineer to support high-power fiber laser systems from development through production.

You will contribute to design, development, testing, and delivery of laser products within a cross-functional team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in fiber and solid-state lasers, opto-mechanical design, and thorough lab skills for optical testing and characterization of high-power systems.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field; MS preferred.
• Hands-on experience with fiber and/or solid-state lasers and amplifiers, optics, and/or opto-mechanical systems.
• Strong lab skills including optical testing and characterization of high-power lasers or complex optical sub-assemblies.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills: data analysis, planning, execution.
• Strong theoretical and experimental understanding of lasers and associated optics.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to cross-functional team developing novel fiber laser designs.
• Apply laser/optics theory to development of high-power fiber lasers and components.
• Design, develop, test fiber laser systems and critical components including fiber amplifiers.
• Report design and test results to core and cross-functional teams.
