Job summary

nLIGHT, headquartered in Camas, Washington, seeks a Senior Equipment Engineer to provide technical leadership and lifecycle ownership for high‑volume laser production equipment. You will drive reliability, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while partnering with Manufacturing, Process, Quality, Facilities, EHS, IT/automation, and suppliers across multiple shifts.

The role requires a strong background in electrical/electronics/mechanical engineering with 5+ years in

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronics, mechanical, systems, materials, chemical or related field with 5+ years on high-volume production lines.
• Experience with optical metrology, measurement systems, and GR&R is required.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings; strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage equipment lifecycle for owned and procured equipment, including spare-parts strategy and obsolescence planning.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to install, qualify, and maintain customer-owned equipment per contract requirements.
• Lead root-cause investigations (8D, DMAIC, FMEA) and develop preventive and predictive maintenance plans.
• Mentor junior engineers/technicians and manage vendors, service contracts, and installation performance.
• Ensure safety, calibration, quality-system, and change-control compliance across shifts.
