Job summary

Corning is seeking an Equipment Development and Design Engineer to lead and participate in multi-disciplinary teams that prototype, pilot, and industrialize manufacturing equipment for optical fiber processes.

You will design, build, and test concepts, validate equipment in manufacturing plants, and collaborate with product and process experts to deliver robust equipment solutions. The role requires a BS in engineering and 3–12+ years of experience, with travel limited to domestic as needed.

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or similar technical field (e.g., physics).
• Ability to work with other engineering disciplines to create prototype and industrialized equipment solutions.
• Familiarity with CAD software for design and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Identify concepts for equipment improvement and lead design, build, and test within cross-functional teams.
• Define and execute equipment validation testing in manufacturing settings.
• Document equipment designs and communicate plans and results clearly.
• Secure funding through appropriation requests and budgeting processes.
