Job summary

Corning Inc. seeks a skilled mechanical engineer to lead design and development of robust precision machine systems supporting multiple Corning businesses.

You will interface with R&D, engineering and manufacturing to translate concepts into production-ready machines and fixtures, ensuring reliability and manufacturability. Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Mechatronics, 5–10 years in complex mechanical systems design, and proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, Inventor).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required, discipline in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Precision's, or related fields.
• Experience designing and building complex mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor) and metrology tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interface with Research, Development, Engineering and Manufacturing teams to develop machine systems.
• Design and analyze first/next generation products, machines, fixturing and components for robustness.
• Collaborate with project teams to solve mechanical engineering problems and influence design functionality.
• Integrate commercial technologies and leverage external machine builders and integrators.
• Utilize internal labs to develop proof-of-concept prototypes.
