Job summary

Cushing Terrell is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer focused on central utilities and district energy. Lead planning, analysis, and design of utility plants, district energy systems, and steam infrastructure for healthcare, higher education, and government facilities.

You will guide design teams, review technical work, and mentor engineers while ensuring quality and compliance with relevant codes and standards. This role offers growth and influential projects across multiple markets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience designing central utility plants and steam systems.
  • Licensed PE or ability to obtain licensure by comity in the hiring state.
  • Ability to lead planning, analysis, and design of medium- and high-pressure systems.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME codes, NFPA standards, and related piping standards.
  • Proficiency with PFDs, P&IDs, control narratives, and sequences of operation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and design of central utility plants and district energy systems.
  • Develop utility master plans and feasibility studies for modernization and decarbonization.
  • Perform engineering analyses, calculations, and prepare construction documents.
  • Oversee pipe stress analyses and cost estimates for GMP/GMAX pricing.
  • Serve as Engineer of Responsible Charge and seal engineering documents.
  • Coordinate with architects, civil/electrical engineers, contractors, and vendors.
  • Provide construction administration and startup/closeout support.
