Job summary

Blue Origin’s Factory Automation team leads the mechanical design of automated manufacturing equipment used across Blue Origin’s production lines. You will own the design from concept through commissioning, applying physics and engineering fundamentals to solve novel challenges in a build-it-and-refine-it environment.

The role requires a BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field, 6+ years of experience with automated tooling, and proficiency in 3D CAD. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Minimum 6 years design, assembly, and commissioning of custom automated tooling or equipment.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and mechanical drafting
• Working knowledge of control systems, robotics, and automated equipment
• U.S. citizenship or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of custom automated manufacturing equipment using 3D CAD.
• Collaborate with applications engineers and product design teams.
• Develop equipment from concept through commissioning and ramp‑up.
• Create BOMs, drawings, and assembly procedures.
• Analyze system behavior using mechanics, kinematics, and materials science.
