Job summary

The Recruiting Hive is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for its client, a multidisciplinary consulting engineering firm. This role leads mechanical design on large projects, focusing on central plant and campus energy systems, including heating, cooling, and energy modeling.

The position is hybrid with offices in Greater Boston, central New Hampshire, or southern Maine, with some travel to client sites. BS in mechanical engineering and 7+ years HVAC experience required; PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering is required.
• 7+ years designing HVAC systems for institutional/commercial buildings.
• Experience leading project teams and coordinating across disciplines.
• Proficiency with whole-building energy modeling and load calculations.

Responsibilities

• Run mechanical design from feasibility through construction administration.
• Design heating/cooling plants and distribution systems.
• Design air-side systems and energy recovery with precise humidity control.
• Build and check load calculations and energy models; compare options by life-cycle cost.
• Lead decarbonization and electrification studies for campus projects.
