Job summary

Apptronik is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer – Battery and Docking Station to lead the mechanical design and development of the battery system and autonomous docking infrastructure for our humanoid robot, Apollo.

This role is responsible for delivering robust, manufacturable, and serviceable battery pack and docking station solutions that enable reliable charging, seamless battery integration, and long-term field performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering.
• 6+ years of mechanical design experience with battery/robotics.
• Experience with battery enclosures, charging interfaces, or power packaging.
• Cross-functional collaboration with electrical/software teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead battery system design and integration of packs, enclosures, and interfaces.
• Design autonomous docking stations and charging interfaces.
• Define mechanical architectures for retention, thermal interfaces, and seals.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Controls, Systems, Firmware, and Software teams.
• Perform structural, thermal, and tolerance analyses; support testing and iterations.
• Build and evaluate prototypes and support production readiness.
• Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to optimize for cost and scalability.
• Work with suppliers to qualify production-ready hardware.
• Ensure safety, reliability, and regulatory/compliance considerations.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish mechanical design best practices.
